Astronomy for Kids by The KidsKnowIt Network

I was reminded of the KidsKnowIt network from a post on iLearn Technology, a blog I read often.  This post took me to the site where I began to explore all it has to offer.  The network offers many “mini-sites” covering such topics as Astronomy, Math, and Animals.  I love the Astronomy site as it is easy to read and navigate.  Below is a shot of the Solar System home page.  On it, you can click on any of the planets to learn more information.

For each planet, the site provides information on the origin of its name, information on its moons (if it has any), and how much you would weigh on the planet.  There is also a quick fact list on the right hand side, which contains information on how long it takes to orbit the sun, its maximum temperature, and its distance from the sun.

There is information on other astronomy related subjects such as stars, space exploration, and galaxies.  The site also has a games section that includes word searches, a quiz, memory matches, and coloring pages to name just a few.  If you are working with your students on anything astronomy related, I would head over to Kids Astronomy.
